Hand in Hand supports parents and early care and education professionals worldwide through the support of our Certified Instructors who work with people in their communities and on-line. We host an online learning and support community where we teach our set of five concrete caregiving tools and where parents and professionals have access to on-going parenting and professional development trainings.

As the Special Education Discipline Coordinator for the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities Program in the Center for Child and Human Development at Georgetown, I help facilitate weekly learning sessions for LEND fellows and I participate in the advising of LEND fellows to complete program requirements and optional professional development opportunities. I assist the LEND leadership team in building relationships with community organizations where children and families are served and facilitating site visits for trainees at these at these locations. I describe and demonstrate how special educators work with related professionals on interdisciplinary teams with and on behalf of students who have disabilities or delays and their families to teach basic skills, adapt content, and implement accommodations that enable learners to participate in the least restrictive environments. I work closely with the LEND Project Director, Training & Clinical Director, other LEND faculty, and community partners.

I worked with the families of young children (age birth to 8 years) who had difficult early experiences such as pre-term birth, developmental issues, early medical illness & treatment, adoption & time in foster care. I collaborated with preschool teaching teams to bring trauma-informed social emotional learning supports into their programs.

I provided developmental evaluations to children age birth to 5 years who were referred for behavioral and/or developmental concerns, and provided consultation for their parents. I also worked with children involved in clinical research studies, including children who had sustained head injuries in infancy and children who had undergone therapeutic hypothermia for neonatal encephalopathy.

I provided trauma treatment for children age birth to 18 years, provided developmental consultation in the context of state early intervention programs, and conducted psychoeducational evaluations for school-age children.
