We engaged in extensive consultations with the founders and the clinical team to define new specifications as we re-designed the tool for an Indian setting. Vantage Consulting is backed by Vantage Insurance Brokers and Risk Advisory services (one of the largest health insurance brokers in India) and so we had the opportunity to pilot the tool at a couple of large Indian organizations. -
Software EngineerSwasth Foundation Aug 2012 - Nov 2013Mumbai, Maharashtra, In(Formerly Swasth India)- Implemented a Java desktop and server application as part of a four member team- Co-implemented a synchronization functionality using JPA and JAXB functionality in Java- Implemented the Inventory management module which was responsible for managing drug inventory across the warehouse and individual clinics- Worked on other modules such as Electronic Health Records (EHR), and Accounting- Led training and product roll out on the field- Managed feature development and release cycles for the productTools used: Java, Java Swing, HTML, Javascript, CSS, BashSummaryWe built a modular Java based desktop application to meet the common use cases of low cost care delivery networks in India. The application was optimized to work on basic Linux based computers while being able to synchronize data with limited internet connectivity. It was a very scrappy, frugal setting and we had to do some intelligent engineering to make this happen. The application was adapted by two primary care organizations in India for use in their health centers. -

It is looking to develop policy guidelines around delivering primary care by running its own set of Rural Micro Health Clinics. One of the key objectives is to leverage technology to ensure that quality care can be delivered for less than a dollar a day per patient. As the Head of Technology, I had multiple roles around exploring the use of technology in our setting and speaking to multiple stakeholders in the Primary care policy space. -
