My entire career has been in the healthcare sector. I have an unusually rare skill set combining a leading clinical career with 25+ years as a senior director in healthcare strategy and transformation across many organisations and care settings both locally in the UK and internationally. My experiences during the pandemic had a profound effect on me both professionally and personally. It reconnected me to my clinical life, as the Physio Lead at NHS Nightingale London, and affirmed my track record of successfully managing complex projects with significant change when I was appointed to a Senior Civil Servant position in the UK government marshalling a National C-19 testing programme. My clinical training and experience allow me to connect with and create natural bonds with clinical teams. It has also driven my interest in ‘people powered health’ – how people are included in the decisions about their health and how we shift healthcare organisations beyond product towards experience. My entrepreneurial approach and strong motivation for exploring opportunities for growth are demonstrated by setting up two successful healthcare businesses - "Saffron Steer", an influential healthcare strategy business and “Physio 3.0” a new concept, purpose-led, private Physiotherapy business. I bring subject matter expertise in strategic thinking and implementation. I’ve helped many healthcare organisations to shape their strategies based on a solid understanding of the challenges that they face, leveraging their competitive advantage and ensuring that the implementation of their strategy is coordinated and coherent.I have always chosen to be involved in initiatives where I can positively influence how people access and experience the services they need. Based on deep and diverse industry insights I can rapidly add value to initiatives, whether these are short or long-term in nature.

This new venture draws on all of my healthcare expertise (clinical and commercial). Being the Strategy Partner I have shaped a competitive, differentiated positioning for the new service. The business model has also been reimagined and we are already set to expand the practice only 3 months after starting it in Colchester. -
Strategy Lead - Lamp TechnologyUk Health Security Agency Dec 2020 - May 2022I started as a Regional Lead for London, leading the roll out of direct-LAMP (saliva) for NHS and non-NHS Asymptomatic testing in London. Later stepped up into the Use Case Lead for the LAMP Cell/Hubs Programme - a major development programme of the UK's first fully automated testing platform. Over the last 6 months of the LAMP Programme I was the strategy lead for the portfolio. During my 18 months at UKHSA, I worked across NHSE/I, government departments (DfE and MOJ), local government and Public Health England. A significant outcome of all this work was to make LAMP technology more accessible to those who struggled with swab-based testing (typically children with Special Educational Needs and adults with Learning Disabilities) thereby addressing a significant health inequality. My role also required managing key policy and strategy stakeholders across UKHSA and other government departments to align the LAMP Programme with wider government policy, often having to find significant compromises to achieve this alignment. I then co-authored and delivered the final Lessons Learnt Playbook for the entire portfolio to the Programme SRO. -
