Led the Customer Identity & Access Management engineering team responsible for customer-facing authentication, authorization, and access control. The team owns these services end-to-end through full lifecycle: from ideation > design > implementation > operations. Led successful launch of multi-factor authentication for more than 500k users across 20k customers. Managed risk to ensure successful deployment and orchestration of launch, ultimately enabling seamless experience for ~200k daily logins. One of the first clouds within Salesforce to provide this capability. Elevated security posture in first-party data centers by addressing insecure designs and exploits – including broken access controls, cryptographic failures, injection, misconfiguration, outdated components, etc.

Headed overall engineering for 80+ person compute platform organization – including multiple teams that provide foundational services to product teams, including API Gateway, API frameworks, Identity & Access Management, and Cloud Native shared services on Kubernetes. Spearheaded reliability initiatives with broad goals of improving quality of service and eliminating any occurrence of repeat incidents. Delivered repairs addressing single points of failure, defense in depth, gaps in instrumentation and telemetry, and built a single pane of glass for reporting on SLAs by top customer touch points and scenarios. Drove down time to detect from hours to under 5 mins, and time to mitigate to under 20 mins for any runbook requiring manual intervention.

Led 30+ person platform engineering organization responsible for our internal R&D systems, CI/CD pipelines + release orchestration, and shared libraries + managed services for Cloud Native development. Championed technology transformation to modernize our technology stack and drive convergence with properties across Salesforce, delivering value across 500+ engineers. Built a Cloud Native platform on Kubernetes utilized by hundreds of applications and services in first-party. Provided the underlying infrastructure, service fabric (eg ingress routing, caching, log forwarding, monitoring/metrics collection, alerting, database access), libraries (.NET, Java, Node), and command line tooling for local development and artifact flow. Redefined our SDLC – including branching, reviews, artifact creation, security scanning, and promotion – and created supporting CI/CD pipelines to handle this orchestration. Optimized lead time for non-production environment, moving from twice daily deployments to ad-hoc deployments within 5 minutes of a PR being merged.

Led the UX Architecture team responsible for developing frameworks, tools, and UI libraries for our client‐side web applications and providing guidance on best practices and standard technology stack for our products across the enterprise. Also led a prototyping practice collaborating closely with researchers, interaction designers, visual designers, and product owners to craft great product experiences through rapid prototyping, validation, and iteration. Supported all product teams in their delivery of new products, features, and technologies into the market.

Led the platform team responsible for exposing ExactTarget technologies to internal and external consumers, including an ecosystem of partners and customers. Includes Fuel APIs (REST and SOAP) as well as Fuel UX (a client-side control library and application framework). The Fuel Platform powers the applications and tools required to manage all interactive marketing data and channels. The foundation upon which the Interactive Marketing Hub is powered, ExactTarget’s FuelPlatform is the most robust and powerful in the industry.
