I completed my MBA in Sustainable Business (Bainbridge Graduate Institute at Pinchot) in June of 2012, developing business models around community economic development, social justice, systems analysis, and entrepreneurship. BGI at Pinchot integrates the quadruple bottom line (profit, people, planet, and purpose) throughout a business curriculum, including finance, marketing, operations, and management.

After nine weeks of intensive Zarma language immersion and technical training in Natural Resource Management, I served for two years in a small rural community with no electricity or running water. Development projects included:• the construction of a grain bank and the training of a women’s cooperative in its management; • the creation of a school garden and an English language club;• training villagers on the benefits of organic fertilizer and pesticide;• workshops on HIV/AIDS education. I extended my contract for a third year as a Peace Corps Volunteer Leader providing support to a regional team of twenty-four volunteers. Support included acting as a liaison between staff and volunteers in the areas of safety & security, medical, site development, bookkeeping, logistics, swear-in and installations, training, and peer support. I served for one year on the Volunteer Advisory Committee and as a Volunteer Assistant Trainer.
