July 2012 to June 2013 responsible for manufacturing operations for Google Glass. July 2013 to January 2014, directed development of Glass prescription solutions for Explorer program, resulting in successful launch of Glass prescription frames and lenses. February 2014 to July 2014, responsible for cross functional team developing next generation technology (primarily optics) for Glass. From August 2014 to April 2017, responsible for creating and managing a team developing advanced VR hardware.

Carried out contract R&D and consulting in solar energy materials, numerical modeling of thin-film light-trapping solar cells, ion beam surface modification, imaging optics and general management. Performed development contracts for DOE, NSF and DOD. Developed novel solar cell measurement and analysis system. Consulted for large and small companies, including multi-year engagement with Google-X (led to Director level position at Google).

Founded company as The MicroOptical Corporation in 1995, and led the company as CEO from 1995 to 2006. Company renamed "Myvu Corporation" in 2007. Served as CTO 2006 to 2008. MicroOptical was the first company to pursue wearable computing delivered through eyewear.Built MicroOptical from the ground up, specializing in imaging optics and new integrated display eyewear incorporating video displays for military, medical and consumer markets. Excellent record of company performance with lean cash management. Raised 28M in private capital in three rounds, and raised 8M in government-funded R&D. Investors included Hillman Co, Atlas Venture, Turner Broadcasting, Essilor International, and Intel Capital. Invented and patented key technologies, built the management team. Created strategic relationships with Essilor (10M equity raise) and Raytheon (5M license/NRE). Positioned the company with ISO, CE and FDA-approved products in industrial, military and medical industries, and then repositioned the company in consumer video. Created SolidOptex technology and brand, led consumer product and technology development. Formulated the strategic business plan for entering consumer electronics and initial marketing strategy. Eyewear display products were sold in US retail stores. In 2006, hired new CEO and CFO to transition to consumer electronics. Member of Board of Directors.

As Manager/III-V Devices (1987 to 1990), responsible for space concentrator solar cell development from gallium arsenide. Delivered exceptional hardened gallium arsenide solar cells to USAF. Promoted to Principal Scientist (1991 to 1996) and led successful multi-year DARPA-funded development of microdisplays (1000 DPI and 2000 DPI) based on active matrix electroluminescent and active matrix liquid crystal display technology. Delivered displays to DARPA meeting project requirements.

Built solar cell team and established international team reputation for excellence in solar cell development, including on-time delivery of outstanding results. Led development of high efficiency solar cells made from Si and InP that demonstrated state of the art conversion efficiency in independent measurements. Built first 15% efficient solar module. Initiated GaAs-based laser device processing.
