Editorial Content Manager

Current

My role today involves managing the editorial content on our different communication platforms, including website and social media. Communication has evolved a lot since the beginning of my career, and today there are many tools to hand that didn't exist before and that allow me to be creative and explore new avenues to communicate. I have successfully launched different initiatives to get the ESRF closer to our audiences and to show our stakeholders the work we do and how the ESRF is making an impact in society. I have developed an audiovisual strategy for our communications and now we use short videos as often as possible to give a taste of the science we do and our results. We also use videos to show life at the ESRF and how experiments are being carried out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BNPBay5hD8 for example). These videos are very popular on social media and an excellent complement to the articles we write.Three years ago I created Humans of ESRF (https://humans.esrf.fr), a series of very short portraits with photos done by a professional photographer. The aim with this initiative is to "humanise science", so by providing portraits of our people, we explain our science at the same time in a different, more original way.

2020 - Present ~6 yrs 6 mos

Senior Communication Officer

My role ranged from web content development, creating strategies for better communicating towards industry and handling our social media accounts. It was a position in a small corporate communication group in an international research lab (700 staff members, 10000 visiting researchers per year), so I collaborated in all aspects of communication, also outside my specific job. I have started to develop an audiovisual strategy due to the increasing importance of videos on social media.

Jan 2016 - Oct 2020

Press Officer And Editor Of The Esrfnews

Grenoble Area, France

This was a new position in the communication group at the ESRF, so I had to develop international media relations, find stories that could work as press releases and liaise with journalists at a time where there wasn't so much information on the web and social media was inexistent. I also had to create awareness among our scientists and users (scientists from all around the world who come to do experiments) about the importance of communicating their results to stakeholders, fellow scientists and the general audience. I was editor of the ESRFnews, our quarterly magazine. During these years, I revamped the design and structure in collaboration with the Institute of Physics Publishing, in the UK. I outsourced the production to them too. We had a print run of 10000 copies.

Nov 2002 - 2011

Project Associate

Responsibilities included writing articles for the internal weekly Bulletin (in English), organising journalists´ visits and assisting with press releases. Additional functions comprised updating the press office photocatalogue and journalist database, as well as collecting and filing press cuttings.
