Harmoney is New Zealand’s first peer-to-peer lender that facilitates personal loans via an online process. It has lent almost $400m in its first two years.● Redesigned the architecture and strategy of the front-end experience.● Worked with a small team to communicate the strategy and to enable them to take upthe principles and theories of the architecture in order to effectively extend the system.● Focused on enabling short iterations, and agility to enable the team to make changesquickly and reliably.● Collaborated with the lead UX designer to put together a framework to easily keep thevisual design consistent, enabling the team to get the visual design right without constant supervision from the UX and visual designer.● Formed a system for writing automated tests at various levels so that the development team could test their own software and minimise the need for repetitive manual testing.● Facilitated the team’s retrospective so that every team member could be heard and collaborate on a path forward ensuring that achievable action items were recorded and implemented.● Endeavored to challenge the team to be the best it could be by encouraging the team to collaborate on new ideas and pushing them to always be at the top of their ability in code quality and the quality of our user experience.● Pushing the team to make decisions based on evidence and to structure work so the ideas can be tested and their benefits proven (or disproven).● Worked with customer services and analytics data to discover the areas the customers are struggling with and improve the user experience to increase conversion rates and lower cost per customer.● Regularly presented to the wider organisation on new features, business processes, and skills and techniques.● Awarded “For saying the things many others are thinking. Telogis is the world’s fastest growing provider of SaaS software for fleet management and telematics. It provides the vehicle and work management software to many small and large “brand name” companies from America and around the world.● Led a team of 5 assisting with their line management and personal development.● “Scaled up” a set of new products to a point where they were facilitating 10s ofthousands of active users a day.● Focused on improving our team’s practices in order to allow us to deliver more quicklyand reliably.● Managed the way or team worked with several other teams around the company toensure we delivered a cohesive product that worked well both on its own and as part of the larger platform.● Responsible for the project management of our team’s work so that we could make delivery of our projects on time, and integrate our communication of new features with users and key stakeholders within the customers’ organisations.● Worked with customers and product managers who were based offshore to enable good communication with the team and help us all to understand the needs that the product should focus on.● Asked to stand in for the Mobile Team Director when he was away on leave or traveling for work.

Dynamic Controls focuses on design and manufacture of motor control systems for wheelchairs and mobility scooters. It has developed into a company where the majority of the point of difference is provided through innovative software.● Worked on a team of 10 to deliver the software for a new wheelchair motor control system that was the first step in unifying the wheelchair product line.● Focused on the enhanced level of rigor and documentation required to deliver regulated medical devices and their software.● Developed an understanding of standards-based software development doing “V model” development via IEC 62304.● Developed and then mentored on the unit testing strategy for the new line of products.● Introduced new compilers and tools to the team to enable us to deliver more easily.

Nexx was a startup that I co-founded in order to bring social lending (similar to Harmoney) to NZ.● Won the University of Auckland Spark 40k Challenge, including seed capital, and a year in the ICEHOUSE business incubator.● Designed and built the online lending platform, bring it to a stage where we were happy with the technical completeness of the project to launch it.● The project was shelved for regulatory reasons. Unfortunately we were before our time.

Appraised community contributed improvements to manufacturing management in the open source Adempiere ERP package for their suitability to a fertiliser manufacturing company. Defined a mechanism to assist and track their unique manufacturing process and began implementation with Adempiere.

Did maintenance and development for a travel insurance software consultancy, database maintenance, implementation of new products, upgrades, project work, and general business computing maintenance and technical support.
