I led accessibility testing and remediation in our education sites and licensing app, and worked to "shift left" accessibility in the company development processes. I presented educational resources for improving accessibility in our products and completed VPATs for clients and RFPs. I also managed captions and transcripts for our video resources. I also continued to organize the company Thanksgiving potluck every year, fostering community at work.

In a consultant role, I handled custom information architecture and front-end development for a bevy of clients, such as International Monetary Fund, Amerisource Bergen, United Health Services, and CBRE. As always, the technologies included HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for integration into .NET, JSF, and Microsoft SharePoint solutions. Content review, wireframing, and accessibility planning were often in the mix, too.I was also in charge of stocking the UX refrigerator with unique beverages, which I excel at.

With our small team of awesome professionals, we launched NMCI Homeport, a site serving as intranet hub for Navy and Marine Corps personnel—an audience of over 350,000. I constructed large portions of the site and loaded them into the projectʼs proprietary CMS. I also managed accessibility compliance for the site and contributed to the corporate web standards documentation, a major part of EDS’s promotion of their Web Standards curriculum.

In my first web development job, I created or updated over twenty-five separate corporate campaign and survey microsites for clients such as Sony, Hertz, United Airlines, United Parcel Service, FedEx Kinkos, and many others. I reviewed and optimized our existing sitesʼ markup, championing the use of Web Standards for accessibility and increased performance. This was the early aughts, after all.For a time, I also executed delivery of the weekly bulk email campaigns for Sony’s MySony reward program, among others.At one point, they wanted to remove “Web” from my title and just make it “Developer”. I stubbornly resisted—“Web” is what I’m all about.
