Managed an international team of Messaging engineers responsible for all aspects of the firm’s messaging systems. Interviewed and hired resources both local and overseas to provide around the clock support. Successfully managed the transition of the Exchange environment off physical hardware and onto a large HyperV based system to resolve performance issues. Hybridized existing Exchange 2016 on premises infrastructure with Exchange on Line and began process of migrating the organization to the cloud. Successfully developed a PowerShell based solution to provision new users in Exchange, and a corresponding solution to de-provision exited staff. Managed the migration of about 70TB of data to the Mimecast archiving solution.

Supported the Exchange 2010/2016 systems during a period of organizational transition and resolved several pressing messaging issues for line of business applications. Developed a project plan to complete swing migration of Exchange 2010 system to Exchange 2016 on the same physical hardware with direct attached storage. Migrated about a half of the organization to Exchange 2016 before I identified and diagnosed performance problems that would prevent migrating the rest. Architected a new HyperV based virtual server infrastructure for Exchange 2016 and began migration to the new servers. Effectively migrated the organization from a ProofPoint appliance based message hygiene architecture to a Mimecast cloud based solution.

Worked as a contractor with large and growing healthcare organization. Responsible for upgrade of their Active Directory domain from 2008 to 2012R2 and the upgrade of the Exchange system from a mixed environment to Exchange 2013 only. Designed and implemented an email archiving system for legal and auditing reasons. Architected a solution for external access to SharePoint, Email, and Remote Desktop Services.

Consulted on a variety of issues for a large retail client in South Carolina. Resolved architecture issues to deliver an operational Exchange 2010 system. Mapped out a strategy for the IT staff to migrate the user base to the new system in an efficient manner with limited impact to the users and operations. Resolved technical and security issues with mail flow and mobile device access that improved user experiences.

Delivered an Exchange 2010 and Office 365 hybrid email system from initial design through implementation and tuning. Built and executed a plan to migrate over fifteen thousand email resources and mailboxes with the least disruption to users. Managed two email system upgrade projects to Exchange 2007 and 2010 using the swing methodology in both cases. Implemented a PowerShell based onboarding process to provision all new mailboxes in a hybrid cloud email environment that saved 5 hours of manual work per week. Designed, Implemented, and supported high-availability Windows File and Print server systems using multiple SAN storage systems. Executed a Windows Distributed File System solution to provide a seamless user experience across file systems. Supported Active Directory in a variety of areas including group policy, access control, and mass change scripting. Implemented and maintained the enterprise MDM solution Airwatch which manages thousands of both corporate and user owned devices. Lead two enterprise-wide Microsoft Office upgrade projects which included installing and supporting dozens of Microsoft Office Citrix servers and thousands of local installs. Delivered a Lync 2010 pilot system which was immediately adopted into production. Successfully integrated the file and email systems of 12 newly acquired organizations. Implemented the electronic faxing solution XMedius to replace about 350 physical fax machines and worked with users to streamline business processes. Collaborated with information security to audit and reconfigure critical systems to ensure compliance and provided discreet audit support and technical expertise to legal staff on sensitive litigation inquiries. Developed and documented best practices and standard operating procedures for numerous systems. Worked to ensure compliance with licensing and adherence to system policies.

Responsible for supporting a wide variety of clinical, infrastructure, support systems and servers. Investigated, selected and implemented several new departmental systems including a system to provide real time information and routing capabilities for ground and air patient transfers and another to support clinical staff during Surgical Procedures. Worked with Ricoh to implement a system to securely scan paper information into email and file shares using Multi-Function copiers. Designed organization’s first centralized patch management strategy and implemented this with WSUS. Led monthly patch management evaluation and change control meetings. Designed and Implemented a PowerShell script to create mailboxes in an on premises email system on demand. Built and supported inventory and equipment documentation system. Investigated and remediated security threats and implemented anti-virus installs on end points. Developed, Implemented, and documented best practices for mass imaging of personal computers using Symantec Ghost.
