I obtained my BS in Food and Nutritional Science from Fresno State and my MS in Student Affairs in College Counseling along with the Pupil Personnel Service (PPS) credential. My purpose in life is to continue working as a school counselor in the K12 educational settings to support and guide students towards their personal and career goals and to reach success in all aspects of their lives. There are several reasons why I feel extremely passionate about the field of school counseling. Primarily, I see education as one of the most valuable aspects of our lives. I believe it is the foundation to one’s future and lifetime success. Therefore, as a school counselor, I want to ensure that all students receive ample resources to help them reach academic and personal success. I believe it is crucial that counselors equip all students with a post-graduation plan to pursue higher education, enroll into a trade school program, or join the workforce. Additionally, I believe that it is important for students to have someone to talk to outside of their immediate support system, especially those coming from difficult home environments, first generation students, and individuals who come from a minority ethnic group. My ultimate goal as a school counselor is to inspire students to become the best version of themselves in all life domains, to collaborate in reducing the Academic Achievement Gap, and ensure students will become reliable assets to our community in the most effective and helpful way possible. Lastly, I want to make a positive change as a professional in the field of counseling by impacting as many student’s lives as possible; to leave a legacy behind and serve as a role model for many.
