Providing direct, trauma-informed legal representation to sexual assault survivors in King and Snohomish counties on a broad range of non-tort legal matters such as protection orders, privacy protection, Title IX, employment and housing issues, family law support, and asylum and immigration cases. Conducting training for attorneys, advocates, and other professionals working with victims of sexual assault and abuse.

Everett, Washington

Performs basic research on legal issues before the court, and prepares briefs, summaries, or memorandums as needed. Addresses members of the public in the courtroom and over the phone to assist with court matters, and maintains judge's appointment and hearing schedules. Maintains orderly conduct in the courtroom, including opening and closing court, ensures the courtroom is trial ready, and keeps library and research material current. Reviews and prepares juror instructions and supervises jurors.

Greater Seattle Area

Conducting comprehensive assessments to determine functional eligibility for clients receiving Medicaid long-term care services, and coordinating with clients and service providers to create care plans allowing clients to remain safely in their own homes. Requires knowledge and application of Revised Code of Washington (RCW) and Washington Administrative Code (WAC) sections that govern in-home care services. Also includes advocating for clients to ensure that their rights as vulnerable adults are protected and that they receive an exceptional level of service, while also being a responsible steward of public funds.

Greater Seattle Area

Representing the Human Services Department in administrative hearings before an Administrative Law Judge when clients or caregivers appeal decisions regarding in-home care benefits, employment status, training issues, and overpayments of state funds. Includes writing hearing reports that are submitted to the Washington State Office of Administrative Hearings, gathering facts, selecting and compiling exhibits, and preparing witnesses for hearings. Requires extensive familiarity with RCW and WAC, and ability to adapt and properly apply constantly changing rules and regulations. Also includes communicating with clients or providers, their representatives, and department management and staff to reach resolutions prior to scheduled hearings.

Providied direct assistance, advocacy, and resource referrals to low-income seniors and persons with disabilities, including housing, utility assistance, and eviction prevention. Screened, hired, and conducted administrative training/orientation of State-contracted in-home care aides.

Organized events and special interest groups at Seattle Housing Authority low-income public housing buildings to increase socialization, leadership skills, and self-sufficiency among residents. Facilitated research process of Emerson National Hunger Fellows from the Congressional Hunger Center in Washington D.C. who were conducting studies on the physical and mental health impacts of food security and socialization programs.

Developeddistribution and presentation materials, arranged meetings, and presentedinformation to both potential clients and other social service providers to increase awareness of a low-income car ownership program.

Coordinated weekly grocery delivery to approximately 100 senior/disabled residents of low-income public housing in the downtown Seattle area. Worked closely with local food banks and Seattle Housing Authority staff to coordinate services. Provided support to program-sponsored events and activities as needed.
