About Michael Comeau
Over 10 years of experience in software development, the last 7 as a Development Systems Administrator (DevOps Engineer). Primarily responsible for maintaining an ecosystem of tools and guidelines to promote and enforce well known engineering practices for built-in quality, continuous improvement, and reliability. This includes Azure DevOps for continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), Nexus OSS for package and artifact management, SonarQube for static analysis of code, and vSphere for infrastructure. A particularly significant contribution to this at Modular Mining was my adoption of vRealize Automation and accompanying scripts used by Azure DevOps release pipelines to provision infrastructure for automated testing. Additionally, I implemented Zendesk to track requests, approvals, and in general better support software engineers. Finding ways to automate various processes is something I’m really passionate about. As such DevOps provides a good space for me find opportunities for automation. I also enjoy that this field is always evolving, and new tools and processes are continually being developed allowing for plenty of continuing education opportunities.

SCADA (Sensory Control and Data Acquisition) systems are used in automated processes all around us. They control mass transit systems, power networks, manufacturing, and much more. The ACL (Autonomic Computer Lab) at the University of Arizona had implemented a SCADA system for several studies. My primary responsibility was to develop a test bed for this system. The test bed was to be a small-scale model of an industrial process that could be controlled by the SCADA system.
