Mike McQuaid is a Seattle public affairs executive and civic leader. Deeply involved in Seattle's urban renewal and advancement, Mike has served in community leadership roles as president and transportation chair of the South Lake Union Community Council, the City of Seattle's community advisory group for the development of Climate Pledge Arena at the Seattle Center and as a mayoral appointee to the Seattle Sister Cities Coordinating Council.Mike has more than 30 years of business, sales, media and public affairs experience working for several highly regarded international firms including Prudential Securities, Business Wire, Bonneville International subsidiary KIRO Broadcasting and Amazon.com along with athletic department roles at Washington State University and the University of Washington. His professional and civic work includes supporting public and private-sector cooperation advancing policy and programs in transportation, economic development, tourism, sports, housing, urban planning, international relations and the maritime industry. He is a board member of the Seattle-Galway (Ireland) Sister City Association and in 2016 and 2017, Mike was nominated by community leaders for the South Lake Union Chamber Changemaker of the Year award.Mike is a fourth-generation Seattleite and graduate of Washington State University. He is an avid triathlete competing at the Olympic and Ironman distances, a national champion rower and former collegiate coach. As a competitive sailor, Mike was a member of the winning crew at the 1998 Swiftsure International Yacht Race.
