About Md Abdul Muyeed, Phd

I had started my career as a member in the Bangladesh Civil Service (Agriculture) cadre in the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) under Ministry of Agriculture. Considering the vision of the department “Sustainable and Profitable Crop Production”, my main responsibility was to boost up Agricultural production through dissemination of modern technologies to the farmers by different extension tools. Just after any disaster like flood, drought, cyclone, hailstorm etc. I had estimated crop damage under my jurisdiction. After that had implemented rehabilitation programs and helped farmers to minimize their losses. Ensured availability of different quality inputs like seeds, fertilizers, pesticides to the farmers. In addition, received season long Training of Trainer’s (ToT) on Integrated Pest Management (IPM), conducted four batches of training as Facilitator/Master trainer. In the working field I had given emphasize on safe way production of fruits and vegetables following Integrated Pest Management-IPM technologies.As Project Director of “Expansion of Urea Deep Placement (UDP) technologies” funded by USAID and USDA I had prepared work plan, procurement plan, monitor the implementation of project activities and also prepared reports to IMED of Planning Commission and Ministry of Agriculture. As Director (Field Services Wing) I had monitored planning and implementation activities of about 25 running projects and 16 programs. After any disaster I had prepared rehabilitation programs and monitored the implementation accordingly. I have planned crop production target separately for saline, drought and flood prone area considering climate smart technologies and implemented those technologies.Finally as Director General (Grade-1) of DAE I had engaged myself with administrative and management functions. Also I had worked for government's policy formulation of different strategic plans for dissemination of climate smart agricultural technologies to various part of the country with the close contact of ministry for ensuring food security of the country. Total length of my government service is 33 years and 7 months. After retirement from government service I have been working as a Consultant in different international organisations in Bangladesh.
