• Work gap - used opportunity to travel and explore. Helped others by volunteering and assisting with a variety of tasks. The following is a summary of the skills I have applied or honed during this period of time plus.
• EBRPD Park Volunteer: assist Park staff with daily duties including replacing sign post, repairing fence and automatic sprinkler system, trash pick-up, and clean/stock restrooms.
• Construction Laborer: assist building panel fence, sheetrock work, and interior painting.
• Landscape Laborer: assist with cleaning debris and weeds from property including cane grass.
• Cost Analysis Researcher: research and provide detailed cost analysis for services including gravel delivery, wood fencing, funeral homes, home security systems, personal help alert systems, tree work, and shower.
• Personal Home Organizer: work with client to organize home interior including filing paperwork, packing breakables for storage, as well as consolidating collections and photographing art pieces.

• Duties included assisting with various field surveys and managing the field equipment for the Berkeley and Davis offices. Specific areas of work are summarized below.
• Collect, synthesize, analyze, and manage environmental data.
• Write memos, summaries, and reports using data generated spreadsheets, tables, and graphs.
• Measure, record, and monitor vegetation restoration sites for multiple-year plant survival/growth. Growth was calculated by measuring stem growth, height and dripline area.
• Carry out Tree-of-Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) invasive species eradication monitoring study by measuring vigor and plant growth over time.
• Survey stream long profiles and cross-sections using self-leveling level.

Berkeley, CA

Performed timed counts of dehiscing catkins (cottonwood and willows) for a phenology study on Tuolumne and San Joaquin Rivers. Assist with sandbar transect vegetation survey and ground water monitoring. Collect tree ring bore samples with increment borer for sugar pine and white fir tree ring study. Entered data into Access database and Excel spreadsheets.

Walnut Creek, CA

Oversee team of contractors and laborers during remodel and preparation for sale of four (4) residential houses. Preformed some painting and small construction work.

Davis, CA

While a student, work part-time for two separate professors (J. Mount and D. Sumner) and two separate graduate students (M. Rains and N. Stevens). Assist with vegetation survey, soil pit evaluation, ground water measurements, pebble counts, sediment sieving and particle size analysis, literature research, and data entry using Geographic Information System.

• Duties included the following:
• Propagate trees and shrubs from seed and cuttings for wildlife habitat program.
• Water, fertilize, and control weeds in greenhouse and shade-house facilities.
• Maintain grounds by mowing (using tractor, lawnmower, and gas-powered weed eater), spraying, using mulch and competing plants or hand weed control.
• Plant grasses and vegetation on stream banks for erosion control projects.
• Recruit, coordinate, and direct large volunteer work force for nursery program (100 plus).

• Worked on common, joint programs for the three resource conservation districts. Additional time was roughly split three ways on specific district programs. Duties included the following:
• Manage all aspects of plant production for local wildlife habitat program which included propagating trees and shrubs from seed, coordinating large volunteer work force, distributing plant material to local.
• Provide resource management recommendations to District landowners.
• Provide hour-long, hands-on, environmental education program for elementary school-age students about soil.
• Assist USDA Soil Conservation Service (aka: Natural Resources Conservation Service) biologist in waterfowl nest search in the Yolo Bypass.
• Attend monthly district meetings to report work progress.
