While working for the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association (NCSEA), I updated market research on NC clean energy businesses that will inform member recruitment and other NCSEA strategies. Additionally, I collaborated with members of the Energy Data Solutions Team to compile data about solar installation requirements of homeowners associations and develop strategies to encourage solar installation.

While working with the North Carolina Renewable Ocean Energy Program (NCROEP), I wrote a report examining the use of marine hydrokinetic technologies to harness the energy inherent in moving water for use in NC's blue economy. Additionally, I formulated stakeholder engagement strategies to ensure that projects ran smoothly and everyone, including coastal community citizens, felt heard in the process.

While studying at the Outer Banks Field Site, I co-authored "What lies beneath: Septic systems and water quality in Nags Head, North Carolina." This report took a holistic approach by incorporating human dimensions and water quality testing in the research. I worked with a team of faculty members and other students at the Outer Banks Field Site to create and analyze a survey that was dispersed amongst property owners to assess their septic system maintenance and risk perceptions. Additionally, we collected water samples and tested them to assess the water quality at various sites throughout Nags Head. The research was analyzed and incorporated into a report detailing the human dimensions and water quality aspects of septic system problems that Nags Head may already be facing and may be threatened by in the future. Our hope was that this research could be used by town officials and other barrier island communities when making decisions about wastewater treatment.
