I started a seminar series at Clare Hall on “Documenting Environmental Change” and brought together scholars working in diverse disciplines from both the social and natural sciences. My post-doc research focused on environmental security (in particular, scarce natural resources) and I organised a workshop soon after the first democratic elections in South Africa on “redefining security in the region”. The workshop covered diverse areas of security including environmental security, resource conflicts, human rights, and regional security. Participants included politicians, academics and non-profit organizations. As part of an international Team of Experts, I participated in the drafting of the Green paper for environmental policy in South Africa. I continue to work on various aspects of environmental security, local knowledge on environmental conservation (both historical and in relation to climate change adaptation), and supervise Geography Part IA, papers in physical geography. I am now teaching in the Masters course in International Management at LAIBS, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge.

Assisted in national study on Natural Resource Management, Land Reform options and Environmental Security.

Initiated a project in South Africa during transition to democracy, examining land reform and natural resource management. Participated in project on Common Property in southern Africa, before being seconded to the Land and Agriculture Policy Centre, Johannesburg (Sep 1994-March 1995).
