Leading on SOS-UK's mission to make sustainability more inclusive, to ensure the climate and ecological crisis is addressed with justice at the heart of it. We need to transform the sustainability sector and education as a whole to ensure those least responsible for, but most impacted by this crisis are part of the journey to delivering on climate justice.

SOS-UK was created in response to the increasing demand from young people to take action on preventing irreversible climate change. We are working with students, education providers, and organisations across all sectors to transform the education system for positive social, environmental and economic impact. We want to ensure all students have the opportunity to learn both about and for sustainability to ensure they leave education with the skills, knowledge and attributes to make the world a better place. At SOS-UK I lead on our partnerships platform "For Good" connecting students and organisations for impactful research, projects and placements. This offers a tangible means for students to turn their education into a force for good whilst supporting organisations to improve their sustainability work. I also work on our whole-institution transformative change programme for Education for Sustainable Development, Responsible Futures, alongside a range of other ESD offerings and consultancy. Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK) is an educational charity created by the student movement in response to the climate emergency and ecological crisis. We support students to learn, act and lead for sustainability.As Director of Education (maternity cover) I oversaw SOS-UKs education work, programmes and campaigns. This involved working across the student movement and with partner organisations to reform the education sector by enhancing the embedding of learning for sustainability for all students, at all levels of study, in the UK and internationally.

Leading on partnership working between organisations students and tertiary education institutions across the UK and Ireland. Facilitating real-world learning collaborations that aim to contribute to a just and sustainable world.As part of the NUS sustainability department, I lead on our For Good programmes and partnerships platform - creating research, project and placement partnerships between students and organisations. These programmes aim to support students to use their education for social, environmental and economic good. Alongside the 'For Good' programmes I work with universities and colleges across the UK delivering an accreditation programme 'Responsible Futures' for which I support staff with progressing this work and train students to audit their institutions on whole-institution holistic and strategic change for embedded sustainability approaches.

Cheltenham

Delivering on all things engagement for sustainability at the University. Supporting capacity building for sustainability at the University and regional level by bringing together external engagement and partnership working together with student engagement. Leading a Sustainability Internship Programme which provides a tangible means of marrying internal and external engagement for sustainability. The programme builds on the BiGGY initiative, which I developed and launched as part of the Green Team in UGSU.Providing opportunities for students both within and additionally to their curriculum learning, drawing on Education for Sustainability principles for student experience.Working with a wide range of stakeholders across the South West and West Midlands who are partnered with UNU RCE Severn to support transformative change for sustainability.

Gloucestershire

Coordinating a network serving the South West and West Midlands promoting transformative change for sustainability education. Providing partnership and engagement work with a wide range of sector organisations in order to draw on expertise, skills and knowledge to share best practice and development for sustainability within the University of Gloucestershire and beyond. Facilitating student engagement with sustainability at the University of Gloucestershire by providing student and Student representative training in Education for Sustainability, organising sustainability themed events. Through coordination of RCE Severn seeking and mentoring internship and placement opportunities for students to support their academic studies and add value to their learning during the course of the time at university.Elected Professional staff member of the University of Gloucestershire Academic Board from August 2015 for 3 years.

Delivering a pilot Summer Placements programme for a sustainability themed placement programme which matches young peoples' prospective university course choices with relevant placements. This is a tailor-made placement programme promoting forward and systemic thinking young people in preparation for their university and future professional careers. Alongside establishing placements, recruiting participants and delivering training and support throughout the programme, work invovles seeking long-term funding to ensure the legacy of this project.Supporting all strands of the greener Gloucestershire project where necessary.

Cheltenham

I conducted a feasibility study and launch strategy for a gap year programme in the UK which aims to promote and develop school leaver's skills and understanding of sustainability in an industry relevant to their career aspirations. Initially this will be launched from the University of Gloucestershire and be based in Gloucestershire. In the long-term, with the success of a BiGGY pilot, it is hoped for a national roll-out of the BiGGY programme.I also worked on a 'Learning for Sustainable Futures' project. This project aims to strengthen how the student voice informs the development of EfS in the curriculum at the University, with specific focus on new plans for the Business School and the place of EfS in future academic strategy and curriculum development in business subject areas.

The Bridge Learning Centre, Dartington, Devon

Working with young people who are out of mainstream education aged 5- 16. The young people have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and through work in the outdoors we aimed to build their social and personal skills in addition to providing academic education in an alternative manner.

Working for a range of sailing clubs and sailing schools in Devon. Coaching and teaching beginner, intermediate and experienced sailors from the age of 4 years old to mature adult. The work involves hands on instructing, organisation of other staff and various administrative tasks.

Stoke Climsland, Nr. Callington, Cornwall

Working on various projects including the Tamar Pilot Project, Up Stream Thinking and the Westcountry Angling Passport. The main project worked on was an investigation of the physical health benefits of angling. This involved developing a methodology, running and producing a final written report and presentation. During this placement I also attended farm visits, conducted ecological survey and sampling work wrote summarizing reports of farm works implemented by the Up Stream Thinking project.

Working with a range of groups, mostly Malaysian but some international, including children's summer camps and corporate groups. As an instructor the aim of my work was to conduct courses in alignment with the outward bound vision of developing team building and leadership skills. This was done through an outdoor programme including jungle trekking, sailing, kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling, orienteering and team building activities.
