As Pediatric Director of Nursing for CareOusel, I oversee the pediatric division of ProCare Hospice, including Clinical Coordinators, RNCM’s, Social workers, Chaplain, and Complimentary Therapies. I also oversee the Home Health Aid department for the adult and pediatric teams. II currently manage a team of over 40 employees, and am responsible for staffing, insurance claims, physician schedules, managing monthly on-call schedules for administrators and providers, and acting as primary resources for the two pediatric clinical coordinators.

Working in palliative pediatrics afforded me the opportunities to cultivate triage skills, use nursing judgement to troubleshoot issues with caregivers, and learn to navigate the healthcare system to provide needed resources to families. Working with end of life and medically fragile children requires compassion, active listening, and service recovery. This position worked closely with physicians, social work, spiritual counseling, and complementary therapies.
