I lead students through a workshop-based curriculum with strong focuses on developing a writer’s mindset, rigorous and repeated practice in a variety of writing genres, constructive peer relationships, and effective feedback. I use the corresponding reading curriculum to engage students in critical thinking and raise the level of response, while building enthusiasm for self-selected, independent reading.I coach the 6th or mixed grade Ready Writing UIL team each year.I sponsor the Blalack Book Club, an after-school student group, grades 6-8.I reviewed a wide range of curriculum materials as a member of the 2019 CFB ISD textbook selection committee. I have collected, analyzed, and rated TELPAS writing samples for ESL students.I have written curriculum for ESL programs and summer school as well as helped plan curriculum calendars and supplemental lessons for the district.
