I began teaching outdoor education after graduating from Purdue University. I spent my first two years as a naturalist at the Dunes Learning Center. I left this organization to pursue leadership opportunities at Green River Preserve in North Carolina. During my time in outdoor education, I realized my passion for teaching and connecting with children. I spent these years teaching campers about the ecosystems, plants, animals, and cultures of Northwest Indiana and the Appalachian Mountains. I then decided to pursue a career in elementary education.I completed the transition to teaching program through Ball State University. During this time, I also completed my student teaching experience at Rosedale Elementary School in a 6th grade classroom. Through coursework and field experience I became experienced at classroom management, differentiating instruction, implanting standard-based and spiraled curriculum, and collaborating with relevant staff members. I am passionate about creating a safe, empathetic, and collaborative environment for students to learn and reach their full potential as learners and citizens. I am seeking a position in elementary education and have extensive experience working with all grades K-6.
