I am a Program Coordinator with experience in both academia and the non-profit fields. Currently, I work with a congregation to better connect it to the community. In the past, I have planned and executed large events such as a campus wide teach-in on social justice and race, managed and developed curriculum for the university's Intercultural Engagement learning community, researched and written grant applications to secure additional program funding, and held public speaking engagements both on campus and at a national Interfaith Youth Core conference.My strong interpersonal skills and intercultural experiences allow me to work cohesively within diverse groups. Benedictine is known for its large Muslim and Hindu populations, and I have worked on many interfaith projects at the university, including receiving an interfaith grant. My previous jobs have allowed me to work out of both a United Methodist Church and Muslim elementary school, and with refugees from countries such as Burma, Sudan, and Iraq.I am passionate about many things, but two issues interest me the most: immigration/refugee rights (as evidenced by my educational background and work history) as well as environmental sustainability, particularly as it relates to our agricultural and food production/distribution systems. I am part of a small committee at my church that recently started a community garden with over 500 square feet of raised bed garden space, and I continue to be involved with the operation of the garden.As a full-time mom/wife/employee/student, I don't have much spare time; however, I do enjoy hiking in local forest preserves as well as tending to my home garden.I graduated from Duke University in 2010 with dual BA degrees in International Comparative Studies and Religion, as well as a minor in Arabic. I am currently pursuing my MBA at Benedictine University and expect to graduate in May 2018.
