I served the Boulder Valley School District as a Para Educator in an Intensive Learning Classroom (ILC) for students with Autism. Our classroom included multi-aged, multi-leveled, multi-needs students. I collaborated with a multi-disciplinary team to implemented individualized instruction in academics, social skills, and life skills. I recorded data on behavior and academic goals. Assessment informs my instruction. To best serve this special population, I have used specialized teaching strategies like applied behavior analysis and discrete trial training.

In my position as Office Associate, I served as the first point of contact for the Teaching and Learning Services division office. The TLS division included the college library, archive, audio visual, and instructional technology departments. I maintained detailed records of financial transactions, purchases and user statistics for the library’s streaming video collection. I assisted staff members when promoting events, hosting workshops, and ceremonies. My additional duties included creating print flyers, signage, and videos for the college website. In my roll as administrative advisor for the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, I coordinated mass mailings, registration, budget, and reported data to national headquarters.When I began graduate school in 2013, I left my position as Office Associate and worked part time as a Library Assistant. My regular duties include checking materials in and out, payments, accounts, training and supervising student workers. I assisted students and faculty locating information in the library, online, and using electronic resources and databases.

I started rock climbing with my husband many years ago. I had been an active Earth Treks member for over 3 years when I had the opportunity to work at the Timonium gym. I taught climbing safety and technique to children and adults and worked as a summer camp counselor. I love sharing my passion for climbing. I had so much fun working with kids in this high-energy environment.

As an undergraduate at MICA, I worked on campus first as a Resident Advisor for a hall of freshman students and then as Desk Assistant for the freshman dorms. In my role as RA, I worked on a team to design programs and events for first year college students. I educated students on campus policies and occasionally mediated conflict between roommates. As a Desk Assistant, I was the first point of contact and security. I assisted students, in person, over the phone, and trained new student workers. Professionalism and confidentiality were important in both positions.
