Supervise and manage overall operations of the city’s parks and recreation services; prepare annual operating budget and CIP for any special projects and plans; develop departmental and park master and strategic plans and identify funding for improvements and construction; project manager for park developments and facilities; administer all State and Federally assisted park and recreation projects; cultivate positive relationships with officials, organizations, and the general public. Responsible to the City Council for the efficient and economical administration of the City government. Responsibilities include comprehensive management and leadership vested in the position by City Charter or assigned by the Angleton City Council, State and Federal laws and regulations. Responsible for policy development and interpretation, administration of programs, processes, functions, budget and staff.

Create, implement and oversee contractual, recreational, educational, athletic, leisure, fitness, outdoor and aquatic programming. Manage and organize recreational assets, prepare and administer recreation operational budget and capital outlay projects. Direct, train and supervise over 60 full time, part time and seasonal recreation employees; including: recreation coordinator, recreation specialists, fitness center specialists, contract instructors, lifeguards, pool managers and aquatic manager as well as administer evaluations and quarterly performance reviews. Manage and oversee Recreation and Fitness Center, five municipal pools and two recreation center operations. Administer natural resource conservation initiatives and programs throughout the city and local school district. Serve as Texas Recreation and Parks Society East Region Awards Chairwoman, Lunch and Learn committee member, East Region Workshop committee member, TRAPS State Education Task Force committee and assist as a presenter at regional workshops. Execute citywide community service projects. Assist with tourism and community event management and implementation. Assist with departmental marketing material, social media and website maintenance. Assist with park maintenance evaluations and beautification. Advocate beautification efforts and opportunities throughout the city.

Managed recreational assets and administered operating budget, executed contracts and contractor pay. Directed, supervised and trained over 50 full-time, part-time and contract employees. Implemented customer service, supervisory and safety training. Managed 65,000 square foot recreational facility; including, lap and leisure pools, sauna, locker rooms, weight room, two aerobics rooms, four racquetball courts, spin studio and KidZone and implemented preventative maintenance plans for facility upkeep. Served on Hike and Bike committee. Reconciled member and patron issues and requests. Significantly expanded program offerings, integrated new programs and evaluated their effectiveness. Served as on-site personal trainer and taught aerobics classes.
