In this role I lead 120 staff across multiple functions. This includes student enquiry management (inbound); student success advising (outbound retention); and student communications and events. I also manage the relationship between the University and the Student Guild and Chair the Orientation and Transition Working Party.

In this role I support the development of networks across the Queensland Customer Experience Community. This involves curating a range of professional development opportunities CX professionals across Queensland.

In this role I peer review articles focussed on student services and student success. I provide critical, evidence-based feedback to support authors seeking publication in JANZSSA. I also lead the professional development arm of JANZSSA which includes designing, developing and delivering workshops and writing circles to support the capability development of those wishing to publish in the journal.

As a member of the University Academic Board, I was responsible for oversight of academic governance at the University, in particular, for ensuring the effective development, implementation and review of academic programs and policies and the maintenance of academic standards.

I lead the Language and Learning team at QUT. We support all coursework students at QUT to develop their reading, writing, speaking, listening and thinking skills so that they can be successful at university and beyond. I am responsible for supervising 15 staff, strategic direction, quality assurance, and stakeholder management, and evaluation and reporting of our support and services.A large part of this role involves ensuring strategic alignment of support for learning programs and services with QUT objectives and working in partnership with students, Faculty staff and other university stakeholders.

I work as a sessional academic at QUT in the Faculty of Education. I tutor in first and third year sociology units, and work as a marker for English Curriculum (at an undergraduate and postgraduate level) as well as postgraduate Leadership and Management. In this role I work with a team to provide academic skills support to students and staff including:- Providing direct learning assistance to student via face-to-face and collaborative technologies- Developing strategies to embed academic and information literacies in the curriculum- Evaluating, developing and delivering the Library’s skills development workshops- Creating custom, discipline specific academic and information literacy resources (print, online and face to face)- Collecting and analysing data in order to evaluate and improve services and student learning- Furthering QUT’s university wide initiatives relating to first year experience, retention, engagement and student support

The aim of this project was to collect staff and student needs and requirements around LMS technology at QUT. The major deliverable of the project was a final report informing the strategic direction of LMS at QUT. Key responsibilities included:- Planning, executing and finalizing the project using PMBOK methodology- Researching and documenting trends in technology and higher education- Environmental scanning and analysis - Managing a small team and coordinating staff and student user groups- Stakeholder communication- Interview and focus group facilitation using design thinking methodology- Writing functional, non functional and technical specifications and requirements- Liaison with QUT’s Architecture Review Committee and Project Portfolio Office

In this role, I partner with the Science and Engineering Faculty at QUT and work collaboratively with the Senior Maths, Science and IT Educator, and the Senior Career Educator to develop and implement a faculty aligned student success strategy that addresses all aspects of student success. This includes career development and employment, retention and case management, support for learning and student partnership and leadership development.I provide supervision, direction and guidance to a team of Language and Learning Educators, MSIT Educators, Career Educators and Peer Advisors.In addition to these supervision and strategic leadership responsibilities, I provide timely, targeted and inclusive front line academic language and learning services and strategies to support the development of core, disciplinary academic and professional language and learning strategies and attributes in all QUT students, such that they become independent, self-determined learners.

I have worked as a research assistant on projects relating to the experiences of International students using academic libraries in host universities and the sociology of elite and private schooling. This included:- Reading, reviewing, sythesising and collating research- Constructing survey instruments - Experience in a range of research methodologies - Administering surveys and conducting interviews- Qualitative and quantitative data analysis- Scholarly writing and referencing

I created an award winning suite of practical, interactive, online, Creative Commons licensed resources focused on developing the social media and digital literacy skills of students and staff. This included:- Using best practice research in online learning design- Storyboarding, filming, editing and publishing video content using mobile media and Adobe Premiere Pro- Writing for the web- Coordinating a small working party- Rolling out a university wide communications strategy- Liaising with external authorities including the Australian Media and Communications Authority- Following QUT’s procurement policy to procure IT Development consultancy- Writing a GITC compliant contract

I was responsible for designing, developing and implementing creative, innovative and engaging programs for seriously ill and hospitalised children and their families. As part of this, I was part of the team that ran an in house television station including presenting live to air. I combined skills in improvisational theatre, clowning, and physical theatre to bring fun and laughter to children in hospital. I also got to wear a cape to work every day.
