I have just completed my final year of an integrated Mechatronic & Robotic Engineering MEng course at the University of Sheffield. My four years at University have changed the way I make sense of the environment around me. I feel as though I have become very well-rounded academically; having strong foundations in control theory, network architecture and Project Management & Process Improvement Methodologies has truly assisted in shaping the way I understand and approach projects throughout their lifetime. I have been encouraged to mould my degree to my interests through the choice of modules & year-long projects such as Machine Learning, Advanced Space Systems & Space Weather, Renewable Energy, Machine Vision, Agent-Based Modelling and “Continuous & Sustainable Pharmaceutical Modelling”. This has made me come to realise that it is attempting to recreate, design or predict optimal solutions to complex dynamic problems that fascinates me, across many industries. My Advanced Project, “The spread of congestion on the London Underground network - an SIR analogy”, for example, aimed to study the contagious nature of overloading and how its effects disperse across stops and lines. I strategically organised historical TFL data in a way that allowed the approximation of foot traffic behaviour in relation to delays and vice versa.I enjoy finding, visualising and predicting patterns in data, and am known among my peers for my ambition, work ethic, time management, report writing and leadership skills.
