Inspired by the work Bournemouth University are doing to help children in and around Dorset achieve their full academic potential, I worked for the University as an Outreach Support Worker. This involved; - Visiting local schools around Dorset and promoting Higher education through workshops.- Creating and delivering presentations about higher education. - Being a project leader during a month long summer camp. - Directing academic workshops. - Applying expertise and knowledge of the University system. - Working closely with SEN children (Special Education).

In an attempt to help combat the overwhelming negative stigma of Mental Health in Asia, I completed a mental health placement in Sri Lanka which involved working closely and living with the local community and those affected by mental health. My job role included; - Teaching English to SEN children (Special needs).- Working in Sri Lanka's national institute of mental health to deliver occupational therapy sessions independently to residents.- Teaching English to Buddhist Monks.

Roles and responsibilities included;- Assisting in the design and development of a new psychometric tool. - Developing creative content for blog posts.- Being involved in the creative direction of existing products and services.- Aiding in the facilitation of workshop based training. - Interviewing potential candidates for available roles. - Creating content for current projects.

Peterborough

My role at Peterborough HMP included a huge variety of different tasks in the rehabilitation unit;- Conducting research into recall prisoners by interviewing over 70 prisoners. - Facilitating change within the prison induction process and compiling a statistical report based on rehabilitation of offenders. - Providing rich data to support Sodexo's efforts to reduce reoffending.

Ghana

I taught 6-8 year olds English, Maths and Geography skills whilst taking part in out-reach programs to bring water aid and food to the surrounding villages. Inspired by my experience, I spent the next year fundraising and made a total of £2000. With this money I embarked on a 2 month project to implement specific actions with the co-ordinators, to give water filters to 6 surrounding villages. With the money raised, our team also built new toilets in a school with a modern plumbing system.
