As a data person that stumbled into the nonprofit world, I was immediately in awe of the amount of tasks fundraisers were asked to do on a daily basis. Fundraisers are INCREDIBLY busy people that I think are forced to wear too many hats.I decided right away that my mission as a consultant would be to help them with their data and databases wherever I could.I would do everything from clean up the misspelled street names so their annual fund mail piece would make it to their donor to export out all the data and do a full analysis of their campaigns.As I chugged away correcting “steet’ to “street” and worked to dive deeper into analytics, I found an even deeper rabbit hole… I discovered the world of wealth intelligence.I started using wealth screening and analytics to inform our clients on who to mail to and who to target for major gifts. I became obsessed and our clients’ results showed. I saw these fundraisers were becoming more efficient using this data, and in turn, were bringing in more money for their cause. The drive to arm fundraisers with the best tools and make them more efficient in their busy worlds, lead me to this ever-changing and incredibly interesting rabbit hole of data intelligence and nonprofit software.This is why I’m here today. I believe in the power of data intelligence to change fundraising as much as I believe that nonprofits are the key to innovating and shaping our future world.
