Hi! My name is Meitra Que-Himes and I am a 5 1/2 year U.S. Navy Veteran. My main job in the military was as an Aviation Electrician assigned to a naval aircraft carrier-based squadron. After a little under 3 years in naval service, I was promoted to the E-5 paygrade and assigned the additional responsibilities of supervising my work center's night shift and conducting quality inspections of my work center's maintenance. After promotion, I signed a 1 1/2 year contract extension in order to deploy with my unit to the 7th fleet area of responsibility for routine operations in the South China Sea. This experience afforded me the opportunity to travel to other parts of the world while working in a highly dynamic environment. I was honorably discharged in 2017, upon which I moved back to Las Vegas, NV to attend the University of Nevada - Las Vegas.During my last two years of school, I got heavily involved in my school's American Marketing Association (AMA) chapter and joined the International Case Competition Team both years, with my teams winning 2nd and 3rd place respectively. During my senior year, throughout the pandemic, I took on the extra challenge of running the organization as president and, although it was challenging in addition to maintaining my GPA with a full course load, my executive board and I managed to maintain our chapter's "Top 10 Chapter" status out of over 350 other collegiate chapters worldwide.Throughout my career thus far, I have discovered a commonality: I love roles that challenge me and allow me to collaborate with different departments and people with diverse backgrounds and interests. I truly love finding creative inspiration by exploring different cultures through food and history and would thrive in a role that would allow me to tap into that love. In my off-time, I enjoy making and sharing elaborate meals with loved ones and have been known to make enough for people to bring home as leftovers. I also dabble in a variety of other interests, such as refinishing furniture (I have a love for power tools and like to find excuses to use/buy them), sewing home decor pieces, and spending time with my cats and husband.Thank you for reading about my journey and feel free to connect with me here on LinkedIn!
