I carry out energy surveys of existing buildings and produce reports with recomendations to improve energy efficiency and feasibility of renewable energy. I also carry out post occupancy evaluations of newly finished buildings about 2 yrs after occupation to assess the energy performance, occupancy comfort and functionality of the building. All relevant information as far as possible is fed back to help improve future designs.I use dynamic simulation software IES in order to assess the energy performance of buildings and the impact on energy consumption of recomended energy efficiency measures. I am also currently working on a project to assess how accurately the energy performance of a building can be predicted i.e. further research into errors inherrent in the modelling process as well as errors due to data gathering. I carry out training and produce technical notes on energy efficiency for the construction teams at Willmott Dixon.
