I am currently serving in the State of Maryland’s COVID-19 response and recovery program with Hagerty Consulting, Inc.; in my short time here I have learned how to manage both vaccine distribution and PCR testing sites, which each entail their own set of clinical, logistical, staffing, and physical considerations.In the previous three and a half years I was Hospital Environmental Safety and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for Mary Washington Healthcare. My position there gave me a lot of insight into the practicalities of how emergency management interacts with healthcare systems, as well as knowledge of safety rules and regulations that keep our hospitals running, especially in dire times like these. I graduated in December 2021 with my master's degree in emergency management and homeland security from Arizona State University. I loved getting to delve deeper into the theoretical background behind resiliency and security, and I am glad I had the opportunity to do so with ASU Online. It made my passion for emergency management, which blossomed from my experience with Americorps NCCC FEMA Corps, grow even stronger, as well as my passion for equitable education.
