About Melanie Clapham

I am a conservation biologist specializing in applied large carnivore conservation using non-invasive research techniques. My current research is focused on developing advanced monitoring techniques for bears (the BearID Project). Through my research, I have the opportunity to work alongside First Nations on wildlife monitoring programs and facilitate the inclusion of scientific knowledge in management decisions. I also work closely with the ecotourism industry in British Columbia to assess and reduce the impacts of commercial viewing on wildlife.
