I am an occupational therapist (OTR) currently working in the inpatient rehabilitation setting at Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation (BSWIR) in Dallas, Texas. BSWIR- Dallas maintains its top-tier recognition nationwide and is one of the only rehabilitation facilities in the area to hold both Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injury Model Systems. As an OT on the float team, I have gained experience working with a wide variety of neurological and orthopedic injuries including spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, cerebrovascular accidents, amputations, and multi-traumatic injuries. I also currently serve as the In-Service and Continuing Education Coordinator for the department. Prior to this experience, I worked as an occupational therapist at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas, primarily working with traumatic injuries and surgical specialty cases. Prior to completion of my graduate degree, I completed my first Level II Fieldwork at Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation in Dallas, Texas during the summer of 2021 as a student on both the Medically Complex and Spinal Cord Injury teams. I then completed my last Level II Fieldwork rotation at Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Fort Worth while working underneath the Stroke and Brain Injury Team Lead. I graduated with my Masters of Occupational Therapy in December 2021 from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC). During my time as an OT student, I held a position as the President of the Student Occupational Therapy Association (SOTA) and was employed as a Graduate Assistant for TTUHSC's full cadaver Gross Anatomy course. I was nominated by my faculty for membership in the Student Code of Conduct Committee and the Alpha Eta Honor Society, and also received scholastic merit as a member of the Phi Theta Epsilon Honor Society. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Medical Humanities in May of 2017 from Baylor University. During my time as a student at Baylor, I held positions as the elected President of the Student Physical and Occupational Therapy Association, a nominated Medical Mentor throughout the School of Health Sciences, and Director of Community Service for Chi Omega fraternity. After graduating from Baylor, I worked as a therapy technician in inpatient rehab at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in San Antonio, Texas for 1 1/2 years.
