The challenges of balancing work and family life led me to continue my teaching career as a substitute teacher, which allowed me to be there for my children while still using my skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in the classroom.Unfortunately, my personal experiences as a parent and my professional experiences as a teacher converged in a profound way when I found myself on both sides of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) table. I was disheartened to see the limitations and shortcomings of the public education system and the difficulties that families faced in advocating for their children's education.Despite these challenges, I was determined to provide my own children with the education they deserved. So, I made the difficult decision to leave the public school system and homeschool my two children.
