MARCOMMS PROFESSIONAL, BOARD ADVISOR, STORY TELLER, CREATIVE BUSINESS DRIVER - A transformational leader offering 30+ years’ experience in influencing the public perception of some of world’s most iconic brands and revered companies, with assignments in the London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Cincinnati, Barcelona, Mumbai, Guangzhou, and Cape Town. Highly awarded with hundreds of international awards, I've always believed in the power of awarded work being the most commercially successful as well. The two go hand in hand.My favourite role? It has to be Global Creative Director at TBWA APAC – possibly the most challenging role I’d had in my career to that point, leading the creative comms on the Singapore Airlines & Visa global accounts, traveling to 32 stations worldwide, managing creative teams out of 9 TBWA hubs, as well as being Head of Creative in Singapore. I’d go back in a heartbeat.A creator at heart, I’m passionate about music, off the beaten track travel, crafting leather and wood, art, movies and reading. I have a lifelong passion for nature and the outdoors and live in a Jonathon Fox designed home adjoining the Garigal National Park on the upper reaches of Sydney’s Middle Harbour.A lifetime ago, I was working as a geologist, sitting in the Kalahari desert with my dog, a caravan and my Landrover, when I realised it just wasn’t my calling. I started painting and drawing the environment around me, and with encouragement from others, got into the Design Faculty at Art School, from where I stumbled into Advertising. In the years since then, I’ve worked as a Creative Leader with a vast number of organisations and clients - from bootstrapped start-ups to global heavyweights – where I’ve shaped public opinion and lent influence through advertising. What my advertising career hasn’t told the story of, was growing up in South Africa during apartheid, where I was witness to some of modern history’s most violent years as the government enforced racial discrimination on the masses. Witnessing the release of Mandela, then vote in the country's first free election in 1994 where he was elected President, was an uplifting story of triumph over adversity. This experience gave me a unique perspective. Today, it’s in those organisations that strive to make the world a better place that I thrive. I have a special interest in corporate social responsibility, refugees and asylum seekers, climate change, conservation, animal welfare, civil rights, disaster & humanitarian relief, human rights & poverty alleviation.
