Shipping process; site maintenance, client interface.As my previous cargo-screening employer withdrew its operations from Sea-Tac Airport and from the Pacific Northwest region entirely, a local shipping company sought me out in need of an FSC who was familiar with TSA requirements for international cargo, and I was happy to jump ship and broaden my experience at a different stage of the freight process. There it was my job to ensure the company's expanding operation complied with TSA standards in order to do more kinds of business with new and current clients. This involved creating training materials, a great amount of standardizing and streamlining, training new hires, and keeping procedures up to date. After a short while, however, TSA continued to update and tighten its guidelines and restrictions, frustrating the company's endeavor too much to continue at that time. Nevertheless, I remember the company fondly and value the concentrated growth and learning it provided.

As a field technician, I handled client requests within my designated service area for office equipment and IT operations, desktop and server support, hardware repairs, systems analysis, and general technical support. My favorite was a year-long contract in Bellevue, WA doing computer imaging, creating standard procedure guides and approachable how-to's, and providing general support for everyday operations at a digital security company.

Observation and report; access control; TSA screening; explosives detection.I started as a security guard, then became a cargo screener and finally a screening supervisor for an air freight security division serving Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Screening cargo for international passenger flights requires extensive training and certification, following the strictest protocols of both origin and destination. In addition to access control, policy compliance, and screening itself, my job was to ensure the generalized TSA requirements were and specified to the real-world particulars of our facility. Later, the division began to withdraw its operations from the Pacific Northwest region, but I had already been offered a better position at another company, and the transition was seamless.
