Affirm Press published my book THE LUCKY ONES: STORIES OF AUSTRALIAN REFUGEE JOURNEYS on 30 January. The book intertwines the stories of six refugee families who fled to Australia over the last 70 years. Over four years, I conducted extensive interviews, carried out meticulous historical research of their home countries and also about Australian refugee policy at the time. The book is available at all major bookshops across Australia and on kindle globally.

I co-founded Narrate Media to assist organisations build and engage their audience. We create inspiring content by focusing on the essentials of journalism: storytelling, clear writing, sharp editing and powerful imagery. Tertiary education is a particular focus for our work, especially explaining academic research to a wider audience. We produce annual reports, website content, digital or print magazines, videos, brochures, blogs and social media posts.

I re-launched Explore, the Australian Museum’s 35-page biannual magazine for members, working with an editorial committee of scientists, researchers and AM staff. I developed story ideas, interviewed key researchers, commissioned, wrote and edited stories. I liaised closely with the graphic designer, photographer, proofreader and executive to finalise the layout to a print-ready standard. I produced three editions of the magazine.

As editor of UNSWorld, the UNSW alumni magazine published twice a year, I project managed each edition of the 24-page magazine, planned and commissioned editorial content, including images and graphics, liaise with UNSW staff and other contractors, edited all stories and oversaw production to print-ready standard. I also wrote and edited the UNSW Foundation e-news, including interviewing alumni donors and student recipients.

I interviewed academics and alumni to write profiles for new UTS:Law website; wrote a series of case studies for UTS Research site on projects in data science, health, work, industry and sustainability; produced brochure content for Institute for Sustainable Futures on water, sanitation and gender issues; content for ten brochures on academics research to educate the public on the commercial fishing industry in NSW. Based in Mumbai, India, I contributed to the Australian Financial Review and BOSS magazine. From mid-2001 based in Singapore I contributed to Harper's Bazaar magazine, focussing on domestic violence, natural child birth and successful career women. Commissioned by Caritas (the Catholic development organisation), I documented their emergency relief effort after the Gujarat earthquake in 2001.
