Melinda is a senior global commercial natural resources strategist across technology innovation, marketing, advisory and finance, who energises by working amid trans-formative corporate cultures to effect change. She has been driving evolutions within the global extractives and commodity trading community for over 20 years, including working for the largest miner, BHP and the largest bank, ICBC, with stints spent living in key commodity hubs across Australia, China, Singapore and the UK. Her proven skills lie in building and leading effective internal and external commercial / financing / analytical thought-leadership investment ecosystems, as well as coordinating cross-border and cross-product commercial partnerships and teams. She thrives as a change-agent. Melinda's product expertise includes commercialising mining & metallurgical processing technologies; shifting bulk commodities & freight; fin-tech; mining finance / deal origination, as well as strategic thinking for both corporate product placements and industry structural evaluations; dynamic supply-demand-pricing outlooks/modelling and physical/financial commodity trading; marketing; analysis & risk management. Melinda is well-known as an industry commentator and influencer, identifying key commodity sector dynamics and disruptions, including as a court expert witness. Melinda was also the first woman to trade iron ore swaps and the first to predict China would become a significant steel exporter, as well as being part of the team evolving iron ore pricing from benchmark to spot. Melinda has also served as a volunteer with Women in Mining UK. She was previously a member of the Executive Leadership Committee, with responsibilities as Finance Director and Head of Global Outreach. The latter included project-leading the delivery of the global inspirational #WIM100 initiative which showcases "above & beyond" female contributions to the mining globe, supported by a fabulous volunteer crew. As WIM Finance Director, Melinda held responsibility for delivering the Organisation's business-enablement, liquidity, governance and risk management functions, as well as contributing to strategy developments and outcomes.
