Hello! I am a marine biologist pursuing my passions in the ever-evolving, environmental industry. Climate change, natural resource management, species protection, food source sustainability, and impacts on human communities are just some of the universal concerns that will continue to shape how people live and work today and for generations to come. I am passionate to make a difference by supporting restoration efforts and effective policies specifically related to marine ecosystem restoration and biodiversity preservation to create a more harmonious coexistence between humans and the environment. The importance of the intersection between environmental science and policy for informed decision-making has led me to my current position with the National Marine Fisheries Service/NOAA.As an Army veteran, my core skill sets include project management, analytics, strategic leadership, and excellent verbal and written communication. I'm grateful for the opportunities the Army has presented to me. However, I've embraced this next chapter of my life in a new career field. This is why I earned a graduate certificate in Environmental Policy from the University of Denver and, most recently, my Master's in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego to expand my knowledge in this intensely interdisciplinary field.Outside of work, I love getting outdoors with my dog, going on road trips, snapping photos of nature, reading, and SCUBA diving. Do we have any shared interests or passions on land or underwater? Feel free to connect with me and let me know!

I plan, develop, and evaluate the success of coastal and marine restoration projects and ensure they are aligned with NMFS goals and responsibilities under Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Management and Conservation Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Oil Pollution Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.I evaluate compliance with laws and regulations for ongoing and completed restoration projects to assess the overall impacts of projects.I engage and assist internal and external partners to support planning, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of restoration projects, and provide solutions for identified issues or concerns. Many of the projects I work with involve underserved and tribal communities, specifically. -
Student VolunteerNoaa Fisheries Jan 2023 - Oct 2023San Diego, California, United StatesI responded to stranded marine animal calls, communicate with the public, and assist with necropsies (port-mortem examinations of animals) to determine causes of death. These findings contribute to historical data to determine how humans may be negatively impacting protected species. I also contributed to ongoing conservation research of threatened green sea turtles in Southern California by participating in annual capture studies that involve collecting and analyzing data related to genetics, movements, demography, growth, toxicology, and foraging ecology. -
Master Of Advanced StudiesScripps Institution Of Oceanography Jun 2022 - Jun 2023La Jolla Shores, California, United StatesI earned my Master's degree in the interdisciplinary Marine Biodiversity and Conservation program at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. My capstone project involved a data and visual analysis of southern California green sea turtles to include historical stranding and sighting data and necropsy findings to determine what the greatest anthropogenic impacts currently are on this recovering species. I developed recommendations to reduce this impact and the accompanying Story Map can be viewed here: https://arcg.is/0eX1zK -
