Melissa Atkinson has dedicated her career to bringing hope to those who are most vulnerable, with a focus on connecting generous philanthropists to investments that improve health equity and address social injustice, including the root causes of poor health. She has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry through a unique combination of strategic planning, fundraising, marketing/communications, community health improvement and donor engagement. She currently serves as Vice President, Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer at Parkland Health Foundation, where she helped lead the $160 million fundraising campaign to build the new Parkland hospital. Prior to her 18 years at Parkland Health - one of the busiest public hospitals in the country - Melissa held senior leadership positions in philanthropy, business development and marketing at Texas Health Resources, Tenet Healthcare and the City of Lewisville, Texas. Melissa is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and has completed graduate level work in Social Work and Healthcare Administration.
