About Melissa Bailey

I have been working in the policy and legislation environment for the last eight years in various roles ranging from research and policy of safety for rail operations, to intelligence gathering, analysis and outcomes for heavy vehicle operations. Most recently, I played a key role in developing policy to support legislation that aims to reduce drink driving through education for first time and recidivist drink drivers. Currently, I am supporting a national agenda to develop a regulatory framework for automated vehicle (AV) use in Queensland. I am developing policy and legislation at a jurisdictional level that will regulate AV trials prior to additional AV deployment.I have completed a Masters by Research investigating the effectiveness of the legislative amendment to child restraint use in Queensland. My experience throughout the course of my Research Masters allowed me to further develop my skills in project management and development, while learning how to successfully review and report on legislation and legislative amendments. Through my work as a coach and tutor, I have developed an effective balance between people management skills and the use of my technical skills that allow me to excel in all roles in which I have been employed. I am a very approachable person who will offer advice and assistance when required, in addition to all other duties.I am a dedicated and loyal employee who strives to achieve my best by contributing to my team and working diligently on all tasks.
