I research and identify the opportunities, issues, risks and challenges of maritime safety policies, frameworks and programs. By effectively liaising, negotiating and communicating with stakeholders across the department, government and industry, I have drafted strategic policy to support maritime transport system priorities. I play a pivotal role in developing recommendations to reduce the incidence of derelict vessels in Queensland waters by contributing to the War on Wrecks Government commitment. My most recent work focuses on improving the management of buoy moorings throughout the State. I have consulted with all regions and areas, and ensured customers, marine officers, and maritime operations support officers have an improved experienced when dealing with moorings.

I research and develop policy and legislative documentation to underpin the safe introduction of automated vehicle use in Queensland. With extensive stakeholder engagement, I will develop policy and legislative solutions to modernise licensing and registration frameworks for the introduction of automated vehicles; administer policy and legislation to support safe, efficient and effective road network access and use; and build a contemporary policy framework that creates community confidence in driver licensing and vehicle use now and into the future.

I research and develop policy and legislative documentation to underpin road safety in Queensland, particularly in the area of drink driving. Currently, I am researching and developing policies and procedures for drink driver education programs, for both first time and recidivist offenders.

Fortitude Valley

I develop legislative documentation as it applies to dangerous goods transport by rail, incorporating the requirements of the Australian Dangerous Goods Code and Transport Infrastructure (Dangerous Goods by Rail) Regulation 2008. I successfully contributed to the review and establishment of new policies and legislation while planning for the department’s transition to the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) until July 2017. In addition, I researched policy and procedures to create guidelines for staff to procure contractors and consultants.I provide recommendations regarding best practice for rail safety topics including rail level crossings, road and rail traffic configurations, human factors and prevention of incidents, Automatic Train Protection.

I develop and maintain legislation, instruct Parliamentary Counsel and implement desired policy outcomes through effective relationships with policy officers throughout the department and with external government agencies. Further, I assist with the provision of professional and timely advice on legislative issues and related Cabinet, Parliamentary and Regulatory Impact Statement processes.
