Lumara provides bereavement services to grieving families offering family retreats with sharing circles facilitated by qualified grief counsellors, various therapeutic art and music activities, recreational activities and healing rituals for families who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Lumara also offers year round support groups, an online network and events throughout the year.My responsibilities include facilitating children's sharing circles and providing support to families during retreats. In addition, I have assisted with and coordinated fundraising efforts during the year and I served as a Member on the Board of Directors from 2013-2018.

Counselling MCFD mandated and/or referred families (family, couples and individual counselling) in an outreach and in office basis presenting with child protection concerns. Working closely with MCFD social workers and participating in Care Team meetings to best support clients. Co-facilitating parenting workshops, developing and facilitating children’s groups based upon ‘Superflex’ social thinking curriculum as well as an anxiety and depression group. Responsible for carrying a personal caseload and file maintenance to accreditation standards.

Providing counselling services for youth attending the Youth Centre. Interviewing, hiring, training and supervising youth in the Youth Peer Leader Program. Responsible for file maintenance to accreditation standards.

Working on scene alongside RCMP members providing assistance to victims of crime and/or trauma, crisis intervention, client follow-up, providing emotional support and appropriate community referrals/resources, file management, computer operation of ‘Victim Assistance Database,’ court orientation and escort, participating in interviews for potential new volunteers, training new volunteers and Crisis Intervention Workers, preparing and writing of a grant proposal for National Victims of Crime Awareness Week.

Counselling clients with diverse backgrounds and concerns. Working with adults, children and youth, couples and families. Carrying a personal caseload, file maintenance, operation of ‘CAMS’ computer database, participation in peer supervision meetings.

Counselling children, youth and families with varying mental health concerns. Co-facilitating weekly psycho-educational groups with children on the topics of social skills and anxiety management. Carrying a personal caseload, scheduling, file maintenance, completing Assessment and Termination Reports, operation of ‘CARIS’ computer database. Participation in Integrative Case Management meetings and meeting with clients when admitted onto psychiatric ward in hospital.

Facilitating workshops in high school classrooms on the topics of ‘Stress Management and Coping’ and ‘Suicide Prevention,’ assistance with events for youth, training new volunteers.
