To Whom It May Concern,My interest in teaching began in 2010 when I was first employed by Linden Unified School District for the After School Program. During the time that I was working in the After School Program, I also took a second position as an instructional aide. Seven years after I started the After School Program, I decided to go back to college and begin to pursue a career in teaching. In 2018, I began a full-time position as a paraprofessional and have since been working hard at gaining experience and learning about what it’s like to see and work with students in a day time school setting. As a paraprofessional, I have been put into the position as a literacy interventionist and have been working in small groups with students in grades 2nd through 5th helping them gain confidence and knowledge in literacy. I want to continue to learn and grow in my ability to teach while giving students the support and care that they deserve while at school.I have had numerous experiences with students of all ages while working on my credential. I have submerged myself into teaching by taking every opportunity to teach that is given to me. During the 2020-2021 school year, I had the opportunity to teach a kindergarten distance learning class alongside the kindergarten teachers. During this time, I have gained valuable experience and knowledge while working with the students. In August 2021, I began teaching 1st Grade at Tully C. Knoles in the Lincoln Unified School District under a Preliminary credential while taking classes at Teacher’s College of San Joaquin. I am driven to gain more experience working with different age groups and in different capacities, so that I am able to solidify my career in education with great knowledge.Sincerely,Melissa Fields
