As a Catapult Learning consultant, I provide schools with instructional coaching to help grow teaching practices in the area of mathematics. I am able to work with and support teachers through co-teaching, modeling, co-planning and coaching cycles. While working with teachers is my number one priority, I also strive to create a community of students that love math. Making math come alive in the hallways through strategy cards and math problems has been one of my favorite ways of building this community. I also enjoy being able to do hallway math with students as they come in to school. We continue to build a love of math through the implementation of Fact Friday where students learn operational strategies and participate in meaningful practice through games. There is no greater feeling than when a student asks you for more math because it is "fun."

As a fifth grade teacher, I strived to provide my students a safe and respectful environment. The diverse needs of my students pushed me to learn more about both SEL strategies as well as behavioral management strategies. I was able to work closely with the guidance counselor to find ways to help students succeed with managing emotions, so they were able to participate more fully in classroom learning. Through differentiation strategies such as strategic grouping, partnering, and digital resources, students were able to find ways to access the learning target of each lesson. More importantly, the relationship I developed with parents helped to create a clear communication on how to support student growth.

Chadwick has allowed me to share my passion of math with the school community. Having the opportunity to be a full time Math Coach is my dream come true. I truly love the ability to show students and teachers so many new and wonderful approaches to math. Coming into this school there was a lot of frustration and uncertainty around the teaching and learning math. By developing relationships with both the teachers and the students, I was able to build a community of mathematicians.

One of the most wonderful things about working Saudi Arabia was the diversity of people that I had the pleasure to work with and get to know. During this time, I really grew to understand the importance of collaboration within the many teams of people I worked with. My work with Student Council had the biggest influence on developing my collaboration skills. I learned to manage multiple projects, listen to all voices, and find ways to make school events an important part of our school community. I was also grateful to have a wonderful group of team members to work with when we had to shut down school for the pandemic. We collaborated to find the best ways to continue student learning in such a difficult time. These experiences have helped me to become both a successful math coach and educational consultant.
