Work with Agency Director and advise regarding policy issues and other matters. Analyze and review pending legislation before the General Assembly for potential impacts to the DOI. Review DOI statutes and regulations and make recommendations for legislative revisions. Monitor the National Association of Insurance Commissioners' model law/regulation requirements and advise the Director regarding necessary legislation. Act as liaison between the Department and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Advise and represent the various divisions of the DOI. Defend the Department in the Administrative Law Court and Circuit Court. Draft regulations and see them through the enactment process. Draft proposed legislation. Prepare legal opinions interpreting SC insurance statutes, regulations and case law on questions submitted by staff. Prepare briefs, pleadings, bulletins, advisory opinions, and FOIA responses.

Review files related to employment law defense. Meet with clients. Draft legal motions and memoranda. Assist with trials. Conduct depositions. Draft coverage opinions. Conduct Examinations Under Oath on behalf of insurance companies.

Oversee the Insurance Fraud Division of the Attorney General's Office. Prosecute criminal cases including jury trials. Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including SLED, insurance company personnel, state agencies, etc. Evaluate reports and investigations and make recommendations for further action. Oversee the assignment of insurance fraud cases to other Assistant Attorneys General. Monitor and advise other Assistant Attorneys General in their insurance fraud cases. Give multimedia presentations to various groups including law enforcements, insurance industry personnel, and the general public about insurance fraud. Prepare an annual report to the General Assembly. Identify areas for improvement in the law, write proposed legislation, and make presentations regarding proposed legislation. Coordinated and conducted first accredited law enforcement training on insurance fraud in SC.
