Growth, Characterisation and Application of Ultra-Thin Templated Ferroelectric TiO2 Thin Films as Novel Photocatalytic SurfacesAbstractThe lattice parameters between (110) NdGaO3 and the anatase phase of TiO2 are notably close allowing for a lattice mismatch between the substrate and thin film. This offset causes a strain in the crystallinity of anatase on NdGaO3 which has recently been suggested by Deepak, N. et al to induce a ferroelectric effect in films that they fabricated by liquid injection chemical vapour deposition (LI-CVD). The primary aim of this study was to explore this theory and see if such effects could be reproduced and then extended to an atomic layer deposition (ALD) process. A secondary aim was to investigate if the photocatalytic properties of titania are influenced by any ferroelectric properties observed.
