Information System Security Officer
Supported the cyber security, cloud, and budget systems for the Census Bureau with the following duties for each:- Assists in the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of security requirements within the Census Bureau’s Risk Management Framework- Advises the System Owner on all matters technical and involving the security of information systems, to ensure the appropriate implementation of security requirements.- Collaborate with System point of contacts to implement security controls in accordance with system security plan. - Works with System Owner and Office of Information Security to monitor the information system and its environment, which may include developing and updating the system security plan, managing and controlling changes, and assessing the security impact of those changes. - Advise Census Bureau staff on NIST 800-53 control requirements- Assist program areas in developing IT security policies and procedures- Assist program areas in identifying IT security risks and creating mitigation strategies- Implement and monitor IT security controls - Create and maintain authorization documentation and related documents- Create and maintain privacy documentation including privacy threshold analysis (PTA) and privacy impact analysis (PIA)- Coordinate and disseminate changes to IT security requirements- Gather and maintain data for data calls requested by the Department of Commerce Data - Plan quarterly Census Bureau IT security conferences- Identify, develop, and resolve Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) in a timely manner - Provided customer service in collaboration, consultation, and partnership with customers, other agencies, and stakeholders. - Identify, Remediate and Monitor IT system vulnerabilities by creating Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms)
