The Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) is the largest business-to-business tourism trade event held in the southern hemisphere which brings together travel wholesalers and agents from around the world to meet and do business with Australian tourism sellers for a period of 5 days. The event was established in 1979 and is owned and managed by Tourism Australia, hosted on an annual and rotating basis by the states. ATE is a trade event which TEQ has attended for over 30 years and hosted a number of times previously, including Cairns in 2014. In 2016 the event was held on the Gold Coast (14-19 May) and aimed to:• Showcase the Gold Coast to global product buyers• Facilitate formal contractual arrangements between international travel trade (buyers) and Australian tourism product.• Maximise opportunities for international buyers to visit and experience Qld’s destinations and products pre and post the event (famils).My specific responsibilities were to:Manage the Queensland stand – approvals of design, imagery in consultation with stand builder. The stand also operates as a café and will serve fresh juice daily.Coordinate key events for delegates including:- ATE Media Cocktail Reception at Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort. The media program is an exhibition style event bringing together international & domestic travel media with Australian tourism product media representatives - 250 pax.- Qld Sellers Welcome Function - Northcliffe Surf Life Saving Club – 300 pax.- Americas, NZ & Pacific Buyers Dinner - Southport Yacht Club – 275 pax.- Continental Europe & UK Buyers Dinner - Northcliffe Surf Life Saving Club - 280 pax.Assist with procuring merchandise, local produce, audio visual requirements, theming, furniture, entertainment, transfers etc for above events.Liaison with Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre for all meeting room and stand requirements Coordinate Queensland Happy Hour – 200 pax2018 Commonwealth Games exhibit and activations
