Melissa Eckmann most recently worked as a communications director within Wells Fargo’s Commercial Banking Communications team. In this role, she led a team of internal and external communicators who supported several of Commercial Banking’s business lines with strategic communication planning, executive messaging, change and crisis communications, media relations, and expert consultation. Based in San Diego, Calif., Melissa has experience managing global teams and creating multi-channel communications strategies for large-scale corporate initiatives in the banking, insurance, and software industries. Since joining Greater Bay Bank in 2004, which was later acquired by Wells Fargo, she has worked in a variety of roles for Wells Fargo and its predecessor organizations and subsidiaries in marketing, internal communications, merger communications, event planning, and public relations. Melissa graduated with a bachelor of science degree in Public Relations from San Jose State University. She spent five years on the board of directors of International Association of Business Communicators' (IABC’s) San Diego chapter, serving as board president for the 2014-2015 board term. She returned to the IABC/San Diego board in 2023 -- serving as chapter president for the 2024-25 board term, and also serves on the Board of Advisors for the Toby Wells YMCA. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, being outdoors and on the water, taking her dogs to the beach, and staying active.
